So in the five minutes I took to write this journal the first time dA switched over to Eclipse and I guess it got lost in the void? I don't really know, it took me several tries to find where my journals are to check lol

anyway

I have no plans to leave dA for the moment, especially since I literally just got back I mean come on

I'm going to give Eclipse a shot and see if I can learn to use it, but for anyone who may be leaving and wants to follow me elsewhere:

Instagram - I post most of my stuff here, usually combining several similar shots into one post, and occasionally post scraps or just whatever random stuff I feel like to my stories. I don't generally go into detail in my descriptions (not that I do that a lot here either, but I do it even less on Instagram lol) because ugh phone typing

(oh my god why does the journal writer in Eclipse not scroll down when I add a new line?)

Ko-Fi - Like Patreon, but with less commitment. Everything I post to dA also goes to Ko-Fi, and is nice and organized in galleries just like here to boot! At the moment I don't do any kind of descriptions or journal posts or anything over there, but I might start if I ever get any followers ;)

(how come the thing to add an emoji only comes up when I'm at the start of a new line oh my gooood who designed this)

Society6 - Since this is really more for selling art than sharing it, I only post what I consider to be my best work. There's not much of a social aspect to it, but it's better than nothing I suppose

(also, I'm just a teeny bit annoyed that I can't use quotation marks in the title. This is not going well so far)

You heard it here first - not dead!

It's been years since I was active here. I've uploaded a few pieces here and there as I've flailed around trying to figure out what I want to do with my online artistic life. And I think I've decided to plonk the bulk of it right back here, with a few side-sites like Instagram and Ko-Fi.

I've looked at a lot of different art sites, photography sites, portfolio sites, custom hosting sites like Wordpress and Wix because I wanted something a bit more professional, but you know what? I don't need professional. If I can sell a few prints here, or even a few commissions, cool, but I long ago decided that art was a hobby, not a profession, so I might as well keep it fun and easy and not spend so much time agonizing over which site is the best.

So I'm back! And for those interested, a few life updates:

- back in 2017, along with abandoning my previous career goal of being an editor and deciding that art was going to be relegated to hobby territory, I decided to go back to school for (wait for it... you're never going to guess...) Software Engineering! I'm now in my third year, and happier than I've ever been with any life decision I've made (well, except for two hours before an assignment is due, then I generally want to fling my laptop from the highest building I can find and go live in the woods, but I digress)
- Photography has become my primary artistic focus for a variety of reasons, but mostly because I just enjoy it more than drawing (maybe because getting out and enjoying nature is now much more appealing than a hobby that requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time)
- I was recently (as in, last weekend) given an old 2005 Canon Rebel XT dSLR camera (and 70-300mm zoom lens!) by a friend of my dad's who didn't want it anymore. I've only had the chance to use it once and I love it.

hmmm... that makes it sound like I've had a pretty boring life Laughing my ass off! I'm sure I've done lots of things, but I guess none of them really qualify as "life updates" XD oh well, I'll take boring over drama any day
